Dear Evangelos
Thank you for your email and your comments. We have spoken to the Greek
Embassy in London and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens and here
is their explanation:
* Slavic oral idioms have a lot of similarities to the languages of
FYROM and Bulgaria, and are used by a small number of persons who live
in the northern Greek province of Macedonia. Their definition as idioms
is more accurate scientifically, since, apart from not qualifying as a
full-fledged language, the differentiations among them from one region
of Macedonia (Greece) to another do not permit us to classify them as
one.
* A traditional method which has been employed on various occasions by
certain Greeks, Bulgarians, Albanians and international observers would
add to the respective Macedonian versions an appropriate prefix:
Slav-Macedonian/s, Greek-Macedonian/s, Bulgarian- Macedonian/s,
Albanian-Macedonian/s, etc.
* In what concerns the language of FYROM, it is called “makedonski” by
its Slav-Macedonian citizens and thus should more accurately be
translated to “slav-macedonian language”. The term “slav-macedonian
language” is both more accurate scientifically, since this language
forms part of the Slavic group of languages, and more politically
correct, since it does not imply the monopolization of the term
“macedonian” by one sole contestant.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
The Languages Team

The name “New Macedonia” is the most fair posibility. It does not support the ideas of the Skopian government related to the historical past of that state and at the same time covers the need of the population of this new state to have an identity corresponding to their past and life. In a few words “Macedonia” yes, but a “New” one.
^^^ I agree with you. I would also give a chance to a name like Uper Macedonia or something like that.
If nothing works i think we should use the veto option.
